SORRY, SORRY, SORRY...I have so many updates to share and so little time with the holidays. Not to mention after my last post we had 3 weeks of illness in the Palattao house where either one or 2 of us were sick with stomach stuff, sinus infections, the like. Makes us SO grateful for our health 95% of the time :)
We enjoyed the holiday season with the kids - the sparkle in their eyes, spirit of the season and so much more. Elise officially thought that "Feliz Navidad" was "her song" and ran around singing "Elise Nadidad, from the bottom of my heeeeeaaaaart!". Patrick is talking all the time, new words every day. His favs "eeeet (eat); bootbaaaalll (football); miwwww (milk)" saying "ho ho ho" for Santa and "Wow" with the lights.
I promise I'll update pics at the new year SOON! Much love to everyone and Happy New Year, 2010 has been good to us!
Here's an attempt to keep track of the funny things our kiddos do and to post updated pics of our family (namely the kids - G and I don't change that much day to day!), so everyone can follow at their leisure.

A rough few days for Elise :*(
For those of us who know and love Elise, she NEVER sleeps on the couch, sleeps through a picture without waking up, and is rarely sitting still. So...what's wrong with this picture? Well the poor little kiddo started out Sat morning with the stomach flu (she'd gotten sick in the middle of the night and didn't call for us, just made her bed and went back to sleep!) She was so lethargic and just laying around flat on her back between the double digit sessions in the garbage can. Ended up 30 hrs of constant vomiting and pretty severe dehydration that landed us in Children's ER for 5 hrs.
This is her right after we got back from the hospital, ID bracelet on ankle and all! She was SO brave and didn't cry at all during the entire endeavor (much thanks to the awesome hospital staff - seriously they were awesome - an IV became "a little straw to help her body take a big drink of water, and a special pillow to lay her arm on"). The one funny thing is that as soon as the IV came out and band-aid went on her hand, she refused to use it, like it had a huge gaping wound on it. Funny kid!

Moral of the story is that we are so grateful for having healthy kids ~ much on my mind when we were there was the families that we know for which Children's Hospital is a common place to visit. Thank you God and even more prayers go to those kids and families!
2nd moral is that I am so grateful to have a supportive husband and DAD to our kids (PS He gave up going to the Vikings/Packer's game with Grandma Grandma). I'll never forget the image of him carrying her around and laying in the hospital bed with her.
Last thing is that I have to mention that poor Patrick has been sick since yesterday with a random fever (most likely from his 15 mo shots). Despite this he's been pretty much smiley and whiny all in one, poor little guy!
He was about 50th% for height and 25th% for weight - less and less thigh folds as he climbs, "runs", etc EVERYWHERE. Tonight he came up to Elise and gave her a head butt followed by a kiss (that was swiftly directed by Mom to her forehead).
Two words for him SWEET (kissing dolls) and BOY (immediately throwing them to the ground and grunting and saying WOW right after!).
WE ARE BLESSED!!!

Happy birthday Grandma-Grandma!
For her sixty-something ish birthday Grandma Grandma got to hang out with Elise and Patrick. Elise was very happy and proud to make a chocolate cake for her the night before AND get to sing with her! And in "true Grandma-break-the-rules" fashion, then everyone ate cake with their hands :)
She is the Grandma to 13 kids - but you'd never know it when she's with your own kids - thanks for making everyone feel loved and special. :)

SNOW Day(s)
We came home from a wonderful weekend in Kansas City, MO for my good friend's wedding to 10" snow! YIKES, the week before it was in the mid 60's - WELCOME WINTER! (Our wonderful Solberg neighbor's Erik and Brookie, shovelled the heavy stuff for us before we got home - THANK YOU!)
So, Wednesday the kids and I finally got out to enjoy the weather - Patrick's first time walking in the snow - a bit frustrating to him, then add mittens, even more frustrating. But dancing in the snow was super fun for him!
Elise was an old pro, we even got to make "a snow castle" with the sand toys still out.

Where have the past 3.5 yrs gone?!?!?
So on the exact day of 3 1/2 yrs Elise Faith started swimming lessons...YIKES!
I was nervous all day at how it'd all go, but ever since I picked her up from Paula's she went a mile a minute (waaaay over 10,000 words) about her class and how big she was. She was so excited and said to me, "hey Mom, since Patrick is still a little guy and he can't do class with me, maybe I can teach him how to swim in Cabo. Will that be OK? Bugga Boo, I am sorry you can't do swimming, but I will teach you in Cabo, OK?" Too cute!
At the beginning of class I had to remind myself and Greg to step back from hovering as she walked right into class with no prob. We kept saying, "Man she is so big!"
She loved the fact that her teacher was Nicole, just like my friend "A-cole" and asked where "baby Elliott (now over 2 yrs old) is?".

Shopping for boobs
So yesterday I was at Kohl's looking for a bra for the wedding I am in next weekend and I had my 2 side kicks with me. Patrick was in the little stroller and Elise was pushing him around. They were behind me in the aisle and I could hear Elise saying "hey bugga boo, you like this one for Mommy, I like this one it's pretty." I looked back and they each were proudly holding about 5 pairs of bras. :)
THEN, an employee walked by and Elise chipperly and loudly said "Oh hi, we are looking getting Mommy new boobs." I was crying I was laughing so hard! I did correct her that they were bra's not boobs and she took it like I was telling her something totally unimportant.
Her other thing when we are shopping, her new thing is to find little baby girl clothes, last time was a pair of pants she held up and non-chalantly said "oh my gosh, oh how cute, Mama can we get these for when you grow a new baby in your tummy and give them to her on Thursday". I like that world where the gestation period is 1 wk. She also told Greg she thought he needs a new car, a yellow one and that'd she'd by it "it's OK Dada, it only costs $2, I'll buy it for you".
Patrick's new thing is to dance with just his right arm out like a chicken wing!
AND he gives kisses, MELT MY HEART!!!!!!!!

Happy Halloween!
From our princess and the frog :) Elise asked to be a princess and Patrick a prince "so we can dance together". HOW CUTE! So, after I realized toddler prince costumes are a bit pricey and found a cute frog costume, she was SOLD. (Refer to the Princess and the Frog Disney movie - Elise's favorite) She said "well I will have to kiss him so he turns into a prince".

He was so cute walking along her to the doors, following his princess :)

She was wearing tights, but decided to remove them and I love the cockeyed tiara, a true princess in action. (it was "warm" 50* here but she didn't complain once about being cold)

A wonderful family morning at Taylor's Falls
We enjoyed a surprise "staycation" this weekend - we were supposed to go to that wedding in Iowa that was cancelled, then were planning on going to Omaha, but one of Greg's friends had a death of a grandfather, SO...we were home on a weekend we hadn't planned. When you are planning on being gone, a weekend at home is a nice surprise, especially with our nice fall Minnesota weather.
Below are some pics of our morning (yes, morning, we were home by 1:30...the life with 2 little kids) at Taylor's Falls.

You may notice that Elise is barely wearing clothes for fall (ie summer shirt, capris and no socks). Well, she has started HOPEFULLY A PHASE of "my clothes are itchy".
Meanwhile, Patrick thinks it's fun to carry around footballs and grunt like a boy. He is also starting to repeat words we say - at least the sounds are similar. He's ALL BOY and so damn cute.
We are definitely grateful for each other during this difficult child rearing time! :)

Who Me?
Goofy Girl
Biking Joy
This summer and fall I have been thoroughly enjoying long bike rides with the kids (thanks to the Kuhn-Trobentars) for the hand me down. I've been getting 45 min bike rides in to the park by Lake Nokomis and Minnehaha falls (Elise calls it minne HA-HA). The ride back typically consists of Elise asking why we are going so slow and Elise getting to go on her bike for a bike ride once home.

Finally, OK MOM GET ME OUT!

Mountain Goat
Fall day
I took the kids last Wed to a park, the best part was playing in the leaves. The worst part, when Elise was about 5 levels up on the playground and got stung by a bee. I had to climb 5 levels of rope ladder and get her and carry both kids down 5 flights of stairs. Poor thing, she fell asleep on the 10 min ride home with an ice pack on her hand. Other than that, we had a fun time...see below...

Dentist, dentist, who needs a dentist?
Luckily we have one of our own Dr Solberg and he lives down the street and comes over every night to brush Elise's teeth :)

Elise rinses her mouth this way every time she brushes, maybe she has seen someone else do this for her 3.45 years...someone who looks much like her with boy parts. Monkey see, monkey do!

Walkin' Man
Yes, Patrick started his "walking endeavor" about a few weeks after his birthday, and adds a few each week. However he resorts back to the crawl with right leg up when he has to get to a toy before Elise, race into the bathroom or Elise's room, or towards the dishwasher when Greg or I are loading it. But, the past 2 days he has been walking more and more and is SO PROUD!

Grand View Lodge - Solberg style
In early September, my Mom's boss Kevin, generously shared his Grand View home with our whole family. It was WONDERFUL!

B-Bob made sure to "christen" the house with a "child on top of the fridge". Yes, this is a common event with him, ever since us kids were little. (among other ODD traditions he started!)

Please bear with me...
First of all, below is a one year difference - CRAZY! Fisher Apple Orchard 2009 and 2010

So, I am almost a month behind on updates, maybe because we've been busy with fun events :)
I am too tired to catch up on all the pics, bear with me the next few nights and you will be updated.
Here's some of my fav memories of the past days that have been wonderful ~
~the weather is gorgeous!
~biking with the kids yesterday to Lake Nokomis - beautiful weather - playing at the "beach park", the kids sitting back to back in the baby swing, biking back and Elise singing songs to Patrick, including "if you're happy and you know it stomp your feet" and the 2 of them stomping their feet in the Burley AND I got 1 1/2 hrs of exercise too. Then we went by another park and Elise asked if we could "go there next time on Sunday?" When I told her we could go now she was SO excited and acted as if I gave her a puppy for Christmas.
~Patrick getting more and more confident with walking, Yes he's walking (be patient, you'll get the update soon).
~Elise and Patrick going down slides together :)
~Patrick playing on the toddler sections at the park by himself and going down the slides ALONE!
~Elise on the trapeze at Gleason's open gymnastics gym yesterday for the first time - gymnast in training? :) Patrick sitting and jumping on the trampoline and sitting next to the teacher while he taught, like he was his assistant :)
~That I have gotten back into Yoga again - LOVE IT - and that one day a week I take the kids to 2 hr childcare at the club, that they love it and Elise calls with "class" and has to wear a backpack and makes new friends (their names she "can't bemember") and thinks she's hot stuff and a big girl
~When I changed in the changing room today to try on yoga tops and Patrick saw me naked in the mirror and flipped out because he "wanted to eat" - a bit harder to wean him than Elise, I will be done within a month.
~Elise running 100' down Target towards my parents yelling "Gaaaaammmma, B-Bob" - smiles all around. :)
~Elise drawing with chalk, Gamma Gamma's car, Daddy's car (didn't look like cars), a picture of Greg and I, again didn't look like us at all, but "our heads" had a straight line across it and she was concerned that we had feet and eyes, belly button, and a smiley face :) went below the line.
~That tonight Patrick was fussing after going to bed (not typical for him) and Elise decided to get him a bottle, the Boppy, sit in the rocking chair in his room, rock him and rub his head while feeding him saying "you are a sweet sweet boy". I teared up, so flipping cute!!!
~That within the past month I feel like I can breathe and TRULY enjoy the kids, they are so fun and we are so proud to be their parents! It's starting to "get easy", which is when we decided to "make Patrick" when Elise "got easy". However, it's kinda freeing that we are waiting a year and simply enjoying our 2 kids before deciding about another one (which God willing will happen NEXT year).
