I have spent most of the weekend wondering HOW I (we) thought ONE kid was hard!
Then I realize I will wonder someday (God willing) how TWO kids were hard!...
Hopefully not for another 2 years at a 3rd birth of a healthy Palattao child :)
Here's an attempt to keep track of the funny things our kiddos do and to post updated pics of our family (namely the kids - G and I don't change that much day to day!), so everyone can follow at their leisure.

StayCation and Support the Non-Bachelor Party - you may want to pass reading this one, most likely boring, I will ramble like a "facebook update"!
So, G and Elise left Fri morning for Omaha for a "daddy daughter" weekend (kinda) and "support the non-bachelor" event for his friend who's called off his wedding in Oct. So I had a continuing ed course and got home, relieved Grandma Grandma (Greg's mom) and started my hanging out time with Patrick ALONE, just the two of us. If you had asked me 5 yrs ago what my "dream weekend" would be, can't say this would be it, but it's been AWESOME. First of all, I'll say I miss Greg and Elise ALOT, but having one on one time with my little man is so fun :)
We hung out last night in the living room for an hour - I had to stop myself from "mom mode" of cleaning, doing dishes, etc. Then we had dinner together, he was SO PROUD to use a fork. We went on a walk for an hour and "worked on" animal noises - he just pointed at airplanes and said "go, go, go". But I realized how nice it was that I had that time with Elise, and last night hime, and how he gets jipped. He was ready for bed after a busy day with Grandma Grandam, fell asleep in the stroller just as we got home and into the breezeway in the time it took me to get my car keys, woke up to go in his carseat, fell asleep before we got out of the driveway and woke up at Kyle and Katie's just in time to meet up with Kyle's awesome friend Pat. Patrick was smiley, goofy, basically himself.
He slept until 9:30 this am, ate breakfast and played, then took at 3 hr nap. Needless to say, I got a schmuckload of things done in the house - moved and cleaned under the couches, deep cleaned the kitchen and bathroom, cleaned the breezeway, put old toys and baby things (exersaucer, potty chair, baby tub) away and brought out some "new toys" (a.k.a. toys I've hid for months that seem "new" again). Folded some laundry, just a dent in the "laundry process".
Then, we went to G'ma and B-Bobs for a "pool party" (a.k.a. watch Patrick climb in and out of the pool), dinner, and some well needed parental time for the writer and one on one time for the grandparents. PS PATRICK TRULY TOOK HIS FIRST STEPS, don't tell G :)
We got home, and I started a HUGE project I've been putting off - booking pictures. It took me 3 hrs to do birth to 8 months. YIKES! I just think of how much the pictures of my bro's and I mean to me (and them) in the photo books my parents (mom) did and feel the inspiration! Now, I have to print months 9-12.5 and book them, but the big part is started. I'll order those pics tomorrow.
On tap for tomorrow, a nice long morning walk with my boy. Grocery and Target shopping with ONE KID. Patrick's nap and prep for food for the week. The rest of the events are maybe's depending on when a partying G and Elise get home...lawn mowing, picture hanging in Elise's room (don't tell G) and a HUGE leap printing pics of our wedding for the photo collage that's been hanging in our hallway with "randoms" pictured for 4 yrs.
OK...here are my thoughts about my kids and husband this weekend...
Greg,
~I really LOVE how much he supports his friends
~I love the laugh he gets when he has been around his good friends from Omaha
~I love that he wanted to take Elise with him for a special weekend
~I love that he pulled over because she complained her "bottom was hurting" and put a blanket under her seat in her carseat to make her comfortable.
~I love that he has sent me pictures throughout the weekend, of her eating a doughnut for breakfast, at the pool in big goggles, and of him pre and post eating a HUGE steak with the veggies uneaten
~And, yes feel free to vomit, I hate my empty bed!
Elise,
~I miss her being at my feet in the kitchen with her "stoop" (stool)
~I love that she made a "clothes castle" with ALL her clothes Fri morning, except the bottom drawer of her dresser because she told G "well, I've been up for about 2 hrs" as if she even had a clue what time it was
~I miss her being so sweet and playing with her brother
~I miss her "singing" in the car with me to specific songs with the wrong words ALOT
~I miss her random "I love you lots Mommy" comments these days
~I love that she is too busy playing and hanging out to talk to me on the phone.
~I love that she told me on Fri morning, when I was calling to say good-bye, "ah, Ok mama, I gotta go and get ready for my trip wif daddy."
Patrick,
~I love your new little "lean back on the pillow or couch" and smile deal
~I love getting to go on walks alone with you
~I love how you climb up and head butt my chest to tell me you want to nurse
~I love your head bonks on the floor and windows for no apparent reason, however I spent a good long time making a good brain for you!
~i loved our time at G'ma and B-Bobs tonight just the two of us AND that I got to witness your first steps
~I love that you can play by yourself
~I love your proud smile and look when you stand up all by yourself and don't fall down
~Not a fan of the new-found deal started tonight of throwing food on the floor and saying "uh oh"
~I love your giggle
~I love how you drive cars around and say "brooom, broom" with your right leg half up and your left in crawling position
~I loved checking in on you today in your room/crib and seeing your "butt in the air" sleeping
It'll be nice to have our family back tomorrow :) Good night and I'm sorry for those who've read this whole thing!~

The Irony of KEVIN
First of all, God bless us...
Secondly, I had enough of this "Nuk" thing with a 3 yr old and cut it tonight. Happy birthday Greg! (poor guy)
Instead of napping today she played with her doll house in her room with her Nuk in her mouth, then when I told her she needed to rest, I found her an hour later with almost all of her 15 million books in her bed. Both of these were firsts with her since her big girl bed about a year ago.
So after I cut the Nuk, Elise and I went on a 45 min walk, to talk about it. Thus begins the series of parental lies, I told her I had a "Nukie" when I was little - I was a thumb sucker - and when I got to be a big girl, I gave up my Nuk and got a fish named Kevin - my first pet was a few years after I was done with sucking my nasty thumb that my parents painted with that stuff, but his name WAS Kevin, however he was a BIRD.
Anyway, she will survive, however Greg is going out of town tomorrow afternoon for a "bachelor party" (for a wedding that is most likely called off :(, so it's now a "support my good friend party"). I'm hoping I am strong enough to hold out!!! Heck, maybe I'll kill 2 birds (named KEVIN) with one stone, and end Patrick's Nuk phase too. Since, in the "book of they" it is said Nuk's should be done by 9 months.

"Oh good KEVIN"
So today Elise was being a big dramatic for a change. I said to her "Oh Good HEAVEN" and she flipped her lid screaming at me "Mama don't call me KEVIN!". When I told her what I said she was adamant that I called her KEVIN and quite MAD. Yes, she is 3.25 years old and God bless us in the upcoming MANY years!
Those are the times that I try to remember her newest addiction of saying "Mama (Daddy or Patrick) I love you so so much!"
We definitely are blessed :) ...

Some ONE year old stats
Patrick had his one year appt on Wed, his sweet sister sat by him, held his hand and rubbed his forehead during his shots saying, "You'll be OK bugs, it's OK, we're right here". Yes, he still screamed but she was so darned cute :)
His height, which cracks me up that it's now in FEET = 2' 5.75" (48%)
Weight, surprisingly just shy of 22# (my guess was 24#, G's 23.5#) (34%)
His Head remains Solberg size (37.5%)
He's still not walking, which is fine by us, but loves to walk holding our hands, LOVES climbing the stairs and has figured "regular crawling" isn't as fast, so he half kneels with his left leg and crawls with the other.
Fav words: "WOW!" and while we are driving with him now facing forward in his carseat "go, go, go".
STILL 2 teeth, who's in a rush? Not our little man :)
Man is he awesome!!!

Happy birthday to our little man, bugs, goobs, Patrick Wobewrt :)
I sit here tonight and am feeling we blinked and we are here ONE YEAR later! The calm demeanor from day one continues, however now he's SUPER BUSY, CLIMBING lots, and ALL BOY!!! In a house of lots of girl toys, he finds the balls and throws them and says "Wow!" He is the sweetest little man and we are soooo lucky. And Elise has said all day today, "Haaaapy biwrfday bugga boo" followed by a HUGE hug and kiss.

The remnants of the celebratory blue - can you tell they had blue frosting? :) - cupcakes. Yes, the bathwater was blue too!

These ones crack me up --- "ahhhh, it's tough being ONE!"

Man do we love and adore you bugs - you make us smile all the time and love the emergence of your personality...
First words "Wow"
Calm demeanor 90% of the time
How you love to "share" and then take it back with a smile on your face
Saying "ohhhh, ohhhh"
How proud you are of your new endeavors!
Starting to "give Mom hugs"

Weap, weap Patrick's first haircut!
The many faces/poses of Elise
Closing the door and playing in her bed - most of the time with Patrick in her bedroom...

After playing in her room, she found winter flannel PJ's from last year, put them on, brought her bike in from the breezeway and rode it in the house - IT WAS 85* outside!

Playing with water...soon after this picture she started hosing down Patrick, he doesn't like cold and honestly is very sensitive, so tears ensued :*(

Wrestling! She is trying to make Patrick less sensitive, poor boy!

"Maked buns" (her way of saying naked)...

Elise's favorite things...
-saying "oh, we'll do that on Sunday" (or Tuesday) - why those days I don't know
-saying to Patrick "what you doing you siwy goose?"
-wanting to ride her bike ALL the time, but within a block saying "I am tired".
-saying "I really love you _____"
-Giving lots of kisses ALOT
-playing "sleeping" where she closes the door in Patrick's room and climbs under the covers

A few faces of Patrick...
Standing in Elise's potty, playing on his favorite toy, the toilet.

A nose = a hole = happy Patrick :)

Patrick's favorite things...
-Holes, he finds them anywhere and has a noise he makes while putting his finger in them (don't worry, Daddy has a smart remark about this one and him with girlfriends someday!)
-Partially standing and putting one hand in the air
-Bonking his forehead on things...why?
-CLIMBING
-"sharing" he reaches his hand out and holds something for you, once you touch it he smiles proudly and pulls his hand back with the object in it
-constantly jabbering
-getting up in the middle of the night - what?
